Hello from the Atlantic Provinces.

Nova Scotian Barry Turner attended the Southern Grand at the Silver Dollar in Odessa, Florida in March. Barry reported that the shoot was very well run, equipment operated flawlessly and ammunition was in sufficient supply. The temperatures varied throughout the week with temperature highs into the 80s to low 50s on the last day of the shoot. Gusty winds held scoring in check all week. Barry shot respectively with solid Handicap scores that earned him a couple of top 10 finishes and a tie for 5th in the Championship Handicap. Congratulations Barry and best of luck at the Great Lakes Grand.

The Silver Dollar is a popular mid-winter destination for many Canadians trapshooters. It’s a great place to shoot and I would highly recommend the Florida club if you’re considering a winter or March break shoot.

ATA registered shooting in the Atlantic Provinces is picking up after a long winter. The Petitcodiac Sportsmans Club in New Brunswick start things off with their Spring Trap Opener on May 6 and the St. John’s Rod and Gun Club in Newfoundland will have their first registered shoot of the season on May 28. The complete Atlantic Provinces ATA registered shoot schedule is available on www.shootatlantic.com.

The Brandon Gun Club in Brandon, Manitoba will be hosting the Canadian Trapshooting Championships from June 28 – July 2. The shoot opens with a Doubles Marathon on June 28th, following by the regular 1000 target program shot over 4 days. Back for another year is the Canada Cap Challenge which pays out a $4000 purse to the top provincial 5 man team in the preliminary handicap. New for this year is a $500 non-resident purse that pays out the top 2 non-resident scores in the preliminary handicap. These purses are sponsored by the DVine Trap Range, the Canadian Trapshooting Association, the Brandon Gun Club and Perazzi Canada. Good luck everyone! A shoot program with presquadding, hotel and complete shoot information is available on www.shootcanada.ca
